“And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid … And the angel said unto them, “Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings o great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord.”

“And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.”

“That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.” - Linus Van Pelt

  • OMIGOSH.  Cassie, here’s the thing:  I was asked to do a reading at our Christmas Eve service tonight — and it was this!  From Luke 2!  And I asked the pastor if I could do it in the King James Version since that’s what Linus did… and he said “Well DUH… we can’t have shepherds being ‘really scared,’ they have to be SORE AFRAID… and we can’t have ‘the babe wrapped in various cloth…” He has to be wrapped in SWADDLING CLOTHES!”  Wahoo!

So I did the Linus version!

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS (did you hear me all the way from SandyEGGO?)!!!!

I hope you have just as much luck in this new year as I do with hitting my skunk Or maybe even more.

  • My favorite.  Thanks Cassie!  Merry Christmas!

  • merry christmas to you and your beautiful family!

  • Merry Christmas. Last night I listened to my CD of ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas.’ Great music.

  • There’s plenty of good will toward men. Just not from other humans. On the bright side we could improve in this department. Well, I could. I’m not speaking for you, C.

  • Merry Christmas Cassilou!

  • Merry Christmas!

  • Well, I strongly beg to differ,  the story is quite different,  however the point is pretty much the same.  Stay fed and alive until the sun comes back around next time to warm your bones.

And peace on earth until it gets here,  and music and merryment to show gladness it’s coming back.

  • @Orlando - This particular part of the Peanuts Christmas just chokes me up and restores my faith, even at six years old. I do not claim that it is factual or politically correct. My holiday narcissism takes over and I post this. Probably for the past couple of years. Thanks for the kind thoughts.

  • I love Peanuts and I love you. I hope this holiday season has been treating you well!

  • Well, it doesn’t bother me…. I watch it every year.   I just get choked up when the little tree slumps over…. that Blockhead Charlie Brown!

I was just putting in a plug for the sun people.
