  • Of working, drinking, internet exchanging

That sums up my current sitch.

I always feel compelled to blog when Michel notes my absence. Blame it on exhaustion and tired evenings for the recent lapse.

I certainly have not been lackadaisical these weeks since I was terminated from the 9 to 5 world of employment on August 19th.

No new interviews although I am shooting my resume out to hither and yon…Hither & Yon Inc. I applied for unemployment but I do not think I will be eligible.

I have looked into assistance (food stamps, general assistance), I have to. Never in my life have I; but right now things are pretty bleak and barren.

I have garnered several housecleaning jobs from previous clients. I spent three days cleaning empty apartments from a listing off of craigslist. Oh my dog, I am working my ass off for nine bucks an hour, but what ever, I needs the dough. This is apartment turnover time here in Davis, California. When all the student leases are up and all the students are moving in or out.

Most of the places were in some state of cleanliness but several were right out of Animal House. Unbelievable slothness. Filth. But, hey, it was work. Hence the drinking. Purely medicinal, I tell you. Thank you Dr.Gin Martini and Nurse Olives, you save the day. My back says I will have what ever she is having, make mine a double.

Not my Benz but definitely a google image coup!

I finally got my Mercedes towed home. A hundred dollars later. Actually, I am lucky and blessed that the shop did not charge me storage fees. That is how I came to lose the Fiat. I could not afford to have it registered, insured AND pay the storage/impound fees. So, a hundred bucks, but I made that cleaning those apartments these past day.  I am neither better nor worse off in the long run. I do have the most beautiful German made car port ornament in the alley.

A friend and xangan offered me a party serving gig this weekend. I am all about it and anything that I can get my mitts on. I am calling everyone and letting them know that I am available for all kinds of general labor for a nominal fee. Thank you times ten thousand for the opportunity my xanga pal!

Doll Face the gorgeous bride, Larry the preacher man, and Jer,
my Otha Brotha and handsome groom

The wedding last weekend was wonderful. WONDERFUL. I cried.

Ryan, my not-a-nephew, in his banana suit (costumes were optional at the wedding! Jer wore Speed Racer gettup at Ryan’s wedding!)

Seeing my long time friends on such a happy occasion really did something to soften my soul. Put something inside of me at ease that has not felt such a thing is some long time. I, as usual, hung out with my kids. **Tracy’s oldest son, **Ryan, was there. His wife and daughter were at another wedding and he hung out in our corner of the room too. Michael was DJ’ing and the beer was right next to us…we had it all going on! Ryan had so much enthusiasm for Joc and her future offspring with all kinds of wisdom and baby stuff shopping tips. He had us laughing our heads off, like old times.

Lar and Kimmers at the cake table

I actually got in trouble with Larry for not mingling enough. When did Larry get so bossy????

Kim, Vi and Larry with the champagne HELL YEAH!

Eventually I hung out side with **Vi, Larry and **Kim for some champagne and gossip. Things are good, somethings are not so much. Life goes on. Kim is trying out the dating torture. He was so funny and we both agreed that women this age are kind of bitter out there.

Ryan and his foxy cousin, Amber, I knew the bride when she use to rock-n-roll, cake time!

The Mens, David – Jer’s son and talented musician, **Sheryl with her daughter Amber, the foxiest costumes in the house!

The wedding par-tay,  Shaking that nas-tay thang, the First Dance of Their Lifetime Together

And last but not least, I totally love keeping up with you all on facebook and Twitter. It is my new internet dealy doo. Love it!

**Tracy, my best friend since third grade died a little over two years ago. Ryan is her eldest son and Kim is her husband. Vi is her mom. The wedding was for Jerry, her little brother and Sheryl is Trac’s older sis. I have known these people longer than anyone except my own family.

  • That wedding looked like it was hella fun!  A costume wedding – how can that NOT be fun?

  • So glad you are doing what you can. That’s admirable. Some people are waiting for something to happen and not doing whatever they can to keep $ coming in.  It’s hard out there for so many people. I sure hope it eases up and things get better for everyone soon.

  • ryc, my last night in Davis I sent out for a pizza. Then I went to the Tibet Nepal store and bought a bunch of crystals. The next day the long drive to Texas. Pizza makes everything better.

  • @titus_bigglesworth - so true. I had village bakery deliver some tonight which I am enjoying with some cheap chardonnay. The only way. I love that little Nepal store, it is still here. I must wander in one day and take photos for you, you would love that.
