Of Sea Otters, Abalone, Howl and Halloween
Just another blog about my wonderful grand baby filled moments.
Stephanie and Nix, hanging out on those mean streets of Davis after dark!
I did go to see a movie with pals on Tuesday night. That was fun. We saw Howl, a film about Alan Ginsberg. A beat poet of the day. I actually saw him perform when I lived in Texas. Some smoke filled bar in Deep Elum. I was pregnant with Jocelyn at the time. I really enjoyed hearing the poem Howl but the animation was kind of dumb. It was fun to hang out with Stephanie.
I went to Placerville on Saturday to babysit. I met up with several of my P’ville homies to catch of and of course, to show off my beautiful Juniper!
Here We Are!
I met my dear friend Gaye ( a gifted hypnotherapist )for tea and gelato in down town Placerville. She, too, is a grandma. Juniper liked the gelato but not the cold. She was so funny spitting it out but opening her little pie hole wide for another bite!
Gaye with her darling grandson, Oslo
We caught up for seven seconds and then talked about being Grandma’s in love with our perfect new grand babies. Oz is ten months old. We are so pudding dippy doozle in love with these little poop makers!
After Gaye and I went our separate way I wandered around to my favorite stores. I discovered that the daughter of my number one Placerville clothier (Placerville Clothing Company) is due with her first grandchild. How awesome! Every one cooed and smiled at Juniper. I toted her around town in Jocelyn’s Ergo carrier. Ran into all my best retail buddies. You know me and my retail therapy! I am teaching Juniper the ropes early. (Don’t laugh, she will be miles ahead of her peer group, escaping the pit falls and dime a dozen shiny mistakes we have all made. Not my Juniper!)
Alexa and her lil’ sis Demetria, Issac and Alexa (mommy and daddy’s to be)
Then I did a late lunch with Alexa and Boogie (Demetria goes by this), daughters of my dear pal, Darci. Alexa is due in February ’11. A boy that shall be named Phelan. I got to meet the baby daddy and catch up with these beautiful girls. They are so smart and so funny. Issac is darling and kind. He has amazing eyes! I know Darci must be so proud. I love you guys! I am so grateful that they had time to hang out. And of course, everyone LOVES Juniper!
I also got to watch our darling Miss on Sunday when her mommy was doing band practice in Sacramento.
I made a big pot of chicken noodle soup on this over cast and rainy day.
She is sitting up all by herself these days!
Juniper and I watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate FactoryMy friend Tracy and I cut school at some ridiculously young age and took the bus to the mall to watch this film. We came away with an irreversible crush on Gene Wilder. He was so hot in that movie. Wow!
My dot-air and my grand dot-air
Jocelyn and her bandmate, Jeanie, stayed for home made chicken noodle soup when she came by to pick up her Bean. A wonderful day indeed!
This will be Juniper’s first Halloween.
Michael, my sonMy son and I were having a conversation about people that take babies out for Halloween. He feels that it is ridiculous and moot. I had to agree BUT…having Juniper to think of I found myself perusing the infant costume section of Amazon and Toys R Us.
Yes, I bought our Miss Juney Pants her first Halloween costume. She will be just over six months old, she will remember NOTHING of this night. But oh my dog, she will be so cute and I will take at least five thousand photos.
Not to mention, Jocelyn is as gung ho as I am…Relief…
Juniper is going to be a SEA OTTER for Halloween!
We were limited because of her widdle size but I love this costume. Look at that tail! Someone mentioned an abalone shell to put her candy in. PRECIOUS!
Fill’er Up!
Work continues with my old mortgage boss. I am really enjoying it. It is part time and still temp but it helps.
I did not get a call back from Trader Joe’s, so I guess I am out.
This does leave my weekends free for baby sitting, though, doesn’t it?Life is sweet.
Cash is tight. I barely make ends meet.
I work too hard. So what.
I am as happy as an abalone…

First off, that Gbaby of yours is darling!! Just super squeezable. I love how you love her.
I love all the photos on here that you took. Great photos Cassi.
ANd last but not least, I do love that you just love life and live it fully and presently. Thank you my friend.
You saw Allen Ginsberg in Texas and Robert Plant and Jimi Page in Sacramento? I live in the right places but I never see anybody.
First Halloween’s are important. When she sees the photo’s she’ll be glad she was in costume.
Happy Halloween.
I love very much the photo of you holding Junniper .
And I like also the photo of your son .
Half time work makes life harder for you . I hope better days .
About the abalone shell to put the candy it is precious with all of the nacre .

Michel
Little ones all over the place over here. I guess you’ll be posting daily about Juniper if you live to be 200! lol
She’ll make a very cute Otter, and why not? After all, she’s YOUR grandotter afterall!
I’m happy you’re still liking your job at the Mort. place. Hopefully things will pick up for you. Just a tough time all around, unless you’re an absolutely useless media whore, who gets tv shows and is in the press non-stop. Then you’d be a millionaire!
you really are awesome….. xxxxxg
Well hasn’t Miss Juniper been making the social rounds? You are a wonderful grandma’ma to see to her early education! Dog knows, retail therapy works best when learned early! The pictures are great and Miss Juniper will be the cutest grand-otter ever. Michael is right… it is ridiculous and moot to dress a wee one up but oh so necessary for parents and grandparents. We need the “oohing and ahhing” to nourish our souls. You may be poor but your soul is well nourished.
She is going to be a sea otter?!?!? Awesomeness! Expect mucho photographic spam!!!
Saw “Sunrise” show yesterday morning –Sea Otters off CA coast. Fantastic….
You have such a beautiful family and that grandbaby is just fantastically gorgeous!
you are a happy grandmama. which is good.
I had abalone and cheese sandwich with mustard. wait. I’m thinking about something else. sorry.
great pics!
happy almost halloween! i love the way you weave the pics with words to tell a story
I think it’s absolutely perfect!
Have fun with the grandkid!!! I had a blast with my first………..now I have 3 and the other daughter is just starting. But, it’s fun to spoil them and then give them back. Ha!
Ditto on the “cash is tight”, but I am available for Dad, so the priorities are in order. Last Halloween, which was also his first birthday, my pseudo-grandbaby had his first two teeth coming in…but not in the usual places. They came in as “fangs” and so his “real” grandma bought him a Dracula costume and he was adorable! Enjoy the holiday and the babysitting!
I re-read with pleasure your post,Cassi .
RYC : I encoutage you to arrange your garden . It is so rewarding.
Love
Michel
ryc, I think you’ll like ‘Taking Woodstock.’ I’ve seen it about 4 times now.
You sound so happy. I’m glad.
