Time Off? Whats That?
Ok, so I have my concerns about working with one of the Forbes Top 100 Best Employers. What can I say, I am use to abuse.

Ha ha ha.
Helped hang the new show at the gallery. Had the best day. Apparently I am loved and missed. I would never have known that just one week ago. Don’t worry, I am not completely bowled over my compliments and fake appreciation. Not completely. But, we had a lot of fun. One of the new exhibits is called “The Art of War” and the pieces submitted are middling to great. To premium great. I love working at that gallery. It was a fun day and we worked our asses off. It had been raining for several days so I wore the biggest cable knittedness warmest sweater in all the land. Today the sun and blue skies showed through the clouds and I sweat like a wooly mammoth dealing with global warming running up and down the four floors of art taking down and moving all that art around. Sheesh!

Then I did a homework assignment for my new job. I had to go to a grocery competitor and take a price survey of twenty five items to compare to the same top brand name items of the store that I will be employed at to compare who is the low price leader. Apparently my new employer wins 8 out of 10 times. I shop there so I know they are very competively priced. Nevertheless, tally sheet in hand, I wandered the aisles picking out random but big name items that I know my employers store carries writing down brand, size, price and upc code. Done. I will need to go in early tomorrow for more orientation to write down my stores prices. But I got’er done.

I think I will work at the gallery next Saturday too. I also hope to meet a fellow xangan on Friday. He will let me know if that works out. He will be in SF to see La Boheme. I think.
I am so tired. I clean a house tomorrow then have a four hour orientation in the evening. Then a full work week. No rest for the wicked. But, I need the money. I have to catch up. I am grateful that things seem to be coming together.

I had a great day but now I need to go to bed! How was your weekend xanga crew? I have been trying to catch up with you all and you seem to be doing all right. Right on!

wow crazy competition
But in Econ we realize how price competition is so necessary for this type of business.
one thing is…if you have any red flag pop up in your new job…Trust that little voice inside that keeps you safe and in the truth about things!I want you to have a great time in your job Cassi! just as much as I want to find a great job myself
hope the new job works out for you sweetie .. you deserve all the good coming your way …
You have done so great keeping that head up!!!!
I’m impressed at how serious that store is about training. I wished all businesses cared as much about fully trained and knowledgeable staff and encouraged the ‘sales’ mindset. It makes such a difference. I ran the training department for three years when I was in banking. Great service was one of my finely tuned training segments. I am so aware of great service and lousy service, that I actually make it a point to find management and either compliment the employee or not, when either are in the extreme. Frankly I’m tired of the ‘who gives a shit about the customer’ attitude that runs rampant in so many places. I am tired of a rude world and the ‘just give me my paycheck’ mindset. I wished all employees, everywhere, made it a personal effort to outshine the others.
End of chapter one. hahaha
I’m glad you had fun at the museum. I hope they missed you for real. Why wouldn’t they? You’re awesome!
I am glad you are working for a good company maybe you will not have to worry about how you are going to pay all those pesky bills that come up. I am glad that the gallery loves you so much to keep you coming back. that is even better on the pocket book….and you really seem to love that job. I hope with the kids gone, for the time, you can relax and recoup from all the things that life has thrown at you. You sure are an amazing woman.
You have work homework? Oh. Hell. No.
Your friend must be right–that “team building” is targeted for the younger set. My son didn’t mind it until the memorizing slogans. He didn’t care for that, but he did like the “spot” bonuses he earned. Sometimes little stuff, like free sandwiches and sometimes cash. Very cool.
I tell you what: I have never ever had an encounter with any employee that was less than pleasant. I love that place.
Your sweater story cracked me up!
You are a strong classy woman who, no doubt, is showered by real appreciation, and is truly missed at the gallery.
I think of you often, Phil
I am very eager to know how this job turns out, I have often thought it would be fun to work in a grocery store.
It ‘ s great to feel we were loved at work .
Go ahead for your new job , Cassi .

Years ago, a friend of mine wanted to put together little bags of inexpensive foods that she could give to homeless people. She went into a well-known chain store with her pen and pad to write down prices of certain items. She wanted this to be as inexpensive as possible and wanted to make sure she was getting the best prices. A manager came up to her and said, “We know who you are and what you’re doing and we’re not going to put up with it.” She said she didn’t know what they were talking about. The manager said, “We know you’re here from our competitor down the street, checking out our prices and we’re just not going to allow this.” So, be careful!
Woman! I got tired just reading this. I’m a slug.
Happy Hump day! I’m sure they’ll be missing you at the gallery!
Woo, I love a good Xanga meetup. Hope it’s a good one!
