Enough good noise
Sing you a song about a night.
I have been sitting in my back yard for a stretch of the evening. Listening to the neighborhood sounds.
The starting up of a night the winding down of an evening.
The last several months everything has been so turbulent that the sound and the roar of worry is all that I could hear at all.
We might share a conversation. "What????" I would ask again and again. Walking away and not quite capturing what we had just spoke of.
Tonight I am sitting in my backyard. I am listening to my neighborhood.
The neighbor with the creaky creaky gate. The girl jogging past my fence with her dog on a clinking chain leash. The kids down the street, students, school and finals are out, gearing up for a night of music. The train chugging past.
Having the time and space to have my life be quiet so that I could hear my world around me.
Sing you a song about a night.

The PARTRIDGE Family
Yeah...you're definitely from my generation
Don't know none of my neighbour's night noises---five minutes after my head hits the pillow i'm comatose...light sleepers that live next to airports don't fare well
I love to sit outside at night on the deck and listen to evening descend upon me. Beautiful post Queenie! Glad you finally have a chance to relax.
I am happy you finally have some time to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures around you! You are such a giving person and do deserve this time for relaxing and recharging yourself! Thank you so much for the kind comment...it means a lot to me.
I often go sit on the swing out in the backyard in the wee morning hours... take in the stars and the stillness of the night. My 'hood is very very quiet in those hrs.
I'm glad you're having time to hear the music of the 'hood around you.
Dog, Cassie, what an evocative post! For just a moment I was sitting silently beside you.
Reminds me of my evening shower after a day of toiling in the garden. My backyard shower has a canopy of stars for a ceiling; the bay tree that stands sillouetted in the dusk, sweetens the nights breath with it's fragrant leaves; the neighbors's bathroom window is open and I can hear the kids giggle and splash in the tub and mom hollering for them to hurry up, dinner is on the table. For just a few minutes, I'm a naked voyuer, observing my world and reveling in its comfortable familiarity.
Glad you are having some time to chill.
What you saw wasn't THE Jackson 5ive...was the Jacksons
nice.
Twould be a better world if more people knew how to welcome peace and silence.
It's nice to know you're finally having a chance to relax!
Here's to summer, girlfriend. CHEERS!
Phil
