I am going to buy that sweet little Mercedes Benz.

    I love it.

My weekend has been pretty a-ok.

    Yeah...thats me alright...

I realize that this is going to make me sound like an awful daughter BUTTTTT...the Fiat is having so many issues that driving to the hospital to see mom is a no can do the last two days. And I appreciate the break.

I know it is not personal...

Last weekend I overheard her on the phone telling her sister that I visited her once a week. Once a week. I left work early two days in a row the week before because she was so sick that I could be sure to talk to her doctor. She tried to blame it on being sick. This woman remembers EVERY medication she has and is taking and what time of day she takes it. I feel pretty sure that she knows when I visit her. Which is about five days a week. The nights after work that I am not at the hospital, I am driving up to her house to collect her mail and what ever laundry list of items she wants. That really hurt my feelings.

So two whole days off in a row are quite nice. Meanwhile, I have to track down a neighbor to jump start the Fiat in the morning so that I can drive to her house to borrow her Jeep, as I am sure she will be turned loose from the hospital any day now. I cannot drive her home in the Fiat. Hoping for a jump start in the hospital parking garage...ACK!

    I love my dot-air!

I hope to visit my daughter when I am up there running her errands. I miss my beautiful girl.

    Very refreshing!

I had a fun filled  weekend. A new gal pal is going to bartending school and was making Grasshoppers on Friday night. I am just doing my part to support higher education.

The same friend and I went to downtown Sacramento this night to check out the Second Saturday Art About Town shin dig. Music on the streets, sidewalk vendors, wine and food everywhere you went. And of course, ART. Very nice night. The weather was windy but really good. I needed the de-stressing. My head is about to implode or explode. Life is just too much these past several months.

The job is going well. I continue to like the company and the position, they continue to pay me. My supervisor is also very understanding about the mom situation. Believe me, I am losing sleep over this stuff.

I am in the best mood I have been in for months. I am grateful for new friends and good times.

The Benz is sweet. I hope it works out for you and runs like a top!

I know this sounds like poo, but really, you mom may not remember all the times you're with her. Yes, she might remember her meds, because that's something that keeps her alive and her brain might be focused on them, but other things might just trail off in the distance. However, I have this to say..

Who cares who thinks you came to visit her every day, once a week or never. You know you're there. You're there because you choose to be. You're there for your reasons. If your mom is being insensitive about you, then that's too bad. It doesn't change who you are or that you've been there for her.  In the final analysis, you're doing the right thing. You're offering care and support. Even if the whole world thought you were a lousy daughter, it doesn't change the truth about you. At the end of the day, we have to live with ourselves. Being the best person you know how to be is what's important. If, god forbid, something happens to her, you can have peace in your heart.

I love you Cassilou. Enjoy your car. Make time for you. Keep being a good caregiver. Just keep being you.

sounds like you needed the break... I used to drink grasshoppers...and fluffy ducks way back in the 70's...good luck with the merc

    You rock!!

I thought you only needed new windshield wipers but a new car is a lot better.

  • slocyn

Cassi blogs are good for the soul.

Has anyone told you that yet?

I say yay for the benz and a bigger yay for the break. I have so been where you are with Mama care. I pulled two hard years until I was told by friends, family and medical professionals that my mom was killing me ... we do what we can do out of love, and that's all we can do.

I'm glad you love your girlie and I hope one day to have the relationship that you share. Right now mine is all about getting the heck outta here.

  • judyrutrider

What a good friend you are, helping out your bartending student friend that way!  It totally makes up for your shortcomings in the daughter department.  Seriously, it sounds like you're a better daughter than you mom is a mother.

Sorry to hear the Fiat is being a typical Fix It Again Tony.  They sure are fun when they run.

  • queerskinhead_UK

I love the look of the new car - I wish I could drive. :(

  • tumbling_dice

Don't feel guilty. As much as we love our family, there are times when we need to get away and be by ourselves for a bit. It sounds like you're doing quite a bit for your mom, anyway. I do hope she's better soon.

Glad you had an enjoyable weekend. You've earned it!

  • speraquodvereor

that really is a nice little benz.  ask the Lord, maybe he'll buy you a mercedes benz.  you must make amends.  ha.

you're a bright light, cass.  thanks for being you.

    I don't think I've ever had a grasshopper.

  • warweasel

Cool little Benz, I have to say.  Sorry about the mom situation.  You're A#1, you know that right?

  • ALL1Tribe

If you're at the hospital and need a jump, call the hospital switchboard and ask for security. At my work security carries a battery pack jump starter.

    Sweet Car!!!

Did you get the benz?  Your car choices are like mine...fiat then another foreign car.  Love the smell and feel of foreign cars.  Good luck!!

  • lotsayears

Yea for you and new cars and stuff.  Us old farts can get pretty cantankorus at times so take it with a grain of salt re: your mom.
